Introduction

SimSpace is an all-in-one shop for home golf practice setups.  Whether you’re looking to build out a full indoor simulator or just need something to help work on your game when you can’t make it to the course, SimSpace has everything you may need.  In this review, we take a closer look at the SimSpace Deluxe Practice Net to see how it can help improve your game.

Set Up & Ease of Use

The SimSpace Deluxe Practice Net has a straightforward and well-organized set up.   Right out of the box, no tools were required and each individual part was properly labeled to match up with the directions.  The directions were clear, and I was happy that I didn’t need to have an engineering degree to get this up and running.

The SimSpace Deluxe Practice Net is just over eight feet tall by eight feet wide so at under six feet myself, the most difficult part was threading the net sleeves while connecting all the tubing towards the top.  Overall, it took me about one hour to put together the first time but that shortened once I got more acquainted with the system.

Breaking it down took less time, and not needing any tools is always a plus.  With that said, this is not the most ideal product to put up and break down after every use.  This product is best suited to be put together and stay together.  Setting it up and taking this net down is time consuming.  The SimSpace Deluxe Practice Net should be considered more for a garage or basement where it can remain more permanently.

Once set up, it was immediately ready to use and because of the weight, I never needed ground support stakes or any added weights to prevent it from tipping over.

Effectiveness

The effectiveness of a golf net is based around a few factors, the first of which is the ball return.  I have had quite a few nets in the past where a ball will get thrown back toward me whenever I hit something more than a wedge.  The SimSpace Deluxe Practice Net is angled at the top so that balls actually divert straight down after impact which is something I didn’t know I preferred.

The second factor is safety.  The last thing I want is to swing and worry about blasting one into a window or neighbor’s car.  As I mentioned before, the main net spans an eight by eight area which is larger than I realized and plenty big to receive shots from any club in my bag.  Additionally, the side netting is stretched out by a bag that you fill with rocks or sand and protects any errant lateral shots.  The comfort of knowing I can use any club without fear of missing the net is key to effective practice.

Longevity

The longevity of this product is where I get somewhat concerned.  The push tabs that connect each tube are not quite as tight as I would hope, which allows for the entire system to lean to one side or the other.  While this had no effect on the actual use of the SimSpace Deluxe Practice Net, it is something that I noted when I first set it up.

The metal tubing is powder coated in a black shell that is thick enough to resist any bending or kinks over time.  I used this outdoors exclusively and had no issues even after I accidentally left it up in some light rain.

Value

The SimSpace Deluxe Practice Net as you see here comes in at $400.  Prices on similar products have historically been at or above this mark – the Net Return V2 is double the price [review HERE].  When it comes to an eight foot by eight foot sized net, this is a great value.

I have to mention that there are dozens of golf nets out there that range from under $100 to well over $1,000.  The difference is in the quality of product.  I had one net from Amazon in the $100 range and after about 50 swings, the ball made a hole right through the net.

After only a few months and at least several hundred swings, I can already tell the SimSpace Deluxe Practice Net uses materials ten times the strength of what I found elsewhere.  If I can put it another way, the value of a net like this one from SimSpace offsets the cost of a repaired window, broken fence, or patched drywall resulting from a lesser quality net return.

Conclusion

The SimSpace Deluxe Practice Net is an affordable, modern net return with durability and side netting for extra protection.  The straightforward directions and high impact net allows full swings for effective practice as the ultimate game improvement tool.

  1. So I bought this net from Worldwide Golf Shops and I’m extremely thankful for their 90 day return policy. On day 85 I hit through the net and broke one of the strands. I now have a golf ball sized indention in my drywall.

The metal tubing is thin, the net drapes quite a lot, and the framing just seems weak. The ball rarely returns to you.

I ended up buying the net return pro and it’s like a night and day difference. Like there is no comparison. Just spend the extra money and be done with it.
