The TRUE Linkswear OG3 Pro lives up to the moniker with a zero drop heel and natural motion sole. Upgraded traction and a look that goes anywhere.
Introduction
While TRUE Linkswear has expanded their line to offer something to almost every kind of golfer, the OG line remains the best for the day ones. The latest, the TRUE Linkswear OG3 Pro, shows how the company can continue to offer golfers improvements in stability and cushioning without losing the soul of their original shoes.
Looks
Once you’ve developed your style, it’s good to stick to it. That’s what TRUE did with the OG3 Pro. This is a versatile, clean looking golf shoe. I’m not sure I can think of another that would look as good with as wide a range of outfits, in as many situations, or on as many different golfers.
The majority of the TRUE Linkswear OG3 Pro is one solid color (except in the PNW colorway). The “next generation pebbled engineered leather” looks premium in every colorway. A contrast color – the amount of contrast varies – adds a little visual interest. TRUE kept the branding tasteful with two “TRUE” markings on the heel and one embossed on the tongue.
The TRUE Linkswear OG3 Pro is available in four colorways: black, PNW (white/beige), Nine Iron Grey (seen here), and Glacier White.
Comfort
TRUE Linkswear has changed a lot over the years, but one thing that they’ve never messed with is the out of the box comfort. I’ve been wearing TRUE for well over a decade, and there’s little difference between sliding into a brand new pair and one that’s been in use for many rounds. From the first wear, the TRUE Linkswear OG3 Pro felt like an old friend.
The fit of the OG3 Pro is true to size with an “extra wide toe box.” Kudos to TRUE for being able to keep this width while making the shoe look more sleek than previous Original models. The fit in the midfoot and heel is moderate – not overly wide but not completely locked down. The laces are impactful, allowing you to dial in the fit.
Performance
One of the most notable changes in the TRUE Linkswear OG3 Pro is the new spikeless sole. This is the most aggressive looking design they’ve used, mimicking the shape of replaceable spikes. I found the traction to be very strong. I’ve been wearing more replaceable spikes lately, but these will get heavy wear for me on the course unless the conditions are awful.
A big part of what makes these shoes “OG” is the zero drop heel. Additionally, the sole is extremely mobile from heel to toe, allowing your foot to move naturally. The OG3 Pro has the same cushioning as the OG Cush [review HERE] which offers a pleasant amount of padding without taking away your ability to feel the ground.
While this is a natural motion shoe, that doesn’t mean that it’s without stability. The upper contrasts with the sole, offering a solid amount of lateral control. Additionally, the sole is fairly rigid from side to side, providing a solid platform for aggressive swings. TRUE describes these shoes as having “Moderate” stability, and I think that’s a fair characterization.
TRUEs are walking shoes, and part of that is their light weight. The TRUE Linkswear OG3 Pro is actually one of the heavier TRUEs – the official weight is 12 ounces – but they’re quite light compared to most golf shoes. If you walk most of your rounds, those ounces add up, and shoe weight should definitely be a consideration.
Finally, the TRUE Linkswear OG3 Pro comes with a 2-year waterproof warranty. I gave these a solid dousing in the sink, and the inside stayed perfectly dry. I got the same results wearing them out in dewy mornings and post-rain range sessions.
Conclusion
If you’re looking for a shoe that’s so comfortable on the course that you don’t want to take it off when you leave, the TRUE Linkswear OG3 Pro is it. Throw in the clean look and the waterproof warranty, and it may be the only pair of golf shoes you need.

Great review Matt, you introduced me to TRUE years ago with “the Major” and I haven’t looked back. Excellent products, even better people! You made me chuckle with “Kudos to TRUE for being able to keep this width while making the shoe look more sleek than previous Original models.” That’s a nice way of saying you can wear these with shorts and not look like you’re wearing clown shoes. Don’t get me wrong, I love the OG line but they do look funny unless you wore pants. Not these, they are comfortable and look great as well. Thanks again.
Have you tried the OG Tour ? Wondering how these compare to the OG Tour. Love the look of these and the sole, just wondering with the more aggressive design, did you notice any difference in feel compared to the previous sole design?
Laban,
Unfortunately the OG Tour is one of the very few TRUEs that I have not tested.
Best,
Matt
These are the best shoes TRUE have made IMO. I didn’t love the OG Tour or Original 1.2 for the same reason- the toe width was good, but they didn’t have enough toe depth for me. The top of my big toe would rub on the upper. I would remove the insoles but then they felt really rigid and didn’t feel great while walking. OG3 Pro are out of the box comfortable and the new sole design provides great grip and stability. I’ve walked multiple rounds in them so far and feet feel great in them.
