The 2025 PGA Championship Recap

Charlotte, NC – Scottie Scheffler has won the PGA Championship. With a score of 11-under par, he has won his 3rd major title, The Wanamaker Trophy, and over $3.4 million in prize money. This marks his 2nd PGA Tour win this season and his 8th consecutive win when leading after 54 holes.

Scheffler started the day with a three-shot lead over his competitors and would ultimately finish with a five-shot lead. This marks his 15th PGA Tour career win, and with that win, he joins a list of only three players who have earned that achievement before turning 29 years old. For reference, the only other players to accomplish that are Tiger Woods and Jack Nicklaus. He is also the first player since Seve Ballesteros to win by 3+ strokes in each of his first three major victories.

Interestingly enough, it was a LIV player who had the best chance to beat out Scheffler at the PGA Championship. Jon Rahm was at one point today tied for the lead, but the treacherous Green Mile of Quail Hollow Club saw him finish five-over in the last three holes for a score of five-under for the tournament. He would finish in a tie for 8th place at 4-under par. It was his fellow LIV player, Bryson DeChambeau, who would finish in a tie for second along with Davis Riley and Harris English at 6-under par.

While some of the world’s best players will be looking to take a break following the difficulties of 2025’s second major championship, plenty more will be hungry for a trophy. Next week, the PGA Tour will be headed to the Charles Schwab Challenge in Fort Worth, Texas. There, Riley will be looking to defend the title he earned last year. Other top players in the field will include Scheffler, Hideki Matsuyama, Jordan Spieth, Tommy Fleetwood, and Brian Harman, among others.
