The Shot Scope PRO X rangefinder is a solid rangefinder with strong basic functionality. Fast and accurate. Ability to customize the side panel for your brand, favorite team, or outing.
Introduction
Shot Scope made their name with their shot trackers, but, over the last few years, they’ve become equally well known for their high quality rangefinders. Last year, they released the premium Pro ZR [review HERE] which quickly became my gamer. This year, they’re offering the Shot Scope PRO X rangefinder – a solid option at a very attractive price.
Set Up & Ease of Use
The Shot Scope PRO X operates just like most rangefinders. There is just one button on the top of the unit – the first press turns it on, the second brings up your distance. To switch between yards and meters, hold down the power button for five seconds.
Just past the one button, there is a slider that turns the slope adjustment on and off. When the green is hidden beneath the slider, the PRO X is tournament legal. Slope adjustments are turned on when you can see the green.
As you can see above, the Shot Scope PRO X has a battery compartment just below the viewfinder. It’s powered by the CR2 battery that is commonly used for rangefinders. Shot Scope estimates the battery life at 5,800 ranges. This rangefinder does have a low battery indicator that will appear in the viewfinder, but the manual doesn’t state how much battery is left when that icon appears. Shot Scope sends the PRO X with two batteries, so you’ll have a spare to start.
Accuracy & Features
While many rangefinders are packing in the features, the Shot Scope PRO X rangefinder chooses to keep only what’s essential. This is a straightforward distance measurement device that does what you need without all the extra bells and whistles.
Starting with speed and accuracy, the Shot Scope PRO X rangefinder is excellent. Your yardage appears almost the instant that you let your finger off the button. Comparing the yardages from the PRO X to other rangefinders and markings on the course, it was consistently within one yard.
While the PRO X rangefinder doesn’t have a multitude of modes, it does have the key features that a golfer in 2025 expects. I’ve already noted that it has slope adjustment, and it also has target-lock vibration, so you’ll know when you have the pin zeroed in. The PRO X has a range of 800 yards and 6X magnification, which is equivalent to more expensive rangefinders.
I would rate the Shot Scope PRO X rangefinder as a comfortable, full-sized rangefinder. It has an anti-slip rubber grip that’s pleasant in the hand. You can see that Shot Scope has abandoned the unusual shape of their Pro LX [review HERE] for this more conventional shape. Finally, the PRO X does have a built-in magnet so that you can stick it to your cart.
Finally, while we don’t normally discuss the look of a rangefinder, it’s worth mentioning with the Shot Scope PRO X. First, the rangefinder comes in black or white. Second, there’s a customizable panel on the side that allows you to make the Pro X unique. Shot Scope offers nine different “stock” panels, but the real fun is in printing your own. As you can see, Shot Scope printed special Plugged In Golf panels for me, and you can get your own with a minimum order of just six.
Value
The Shot Scope PRO X rangefinder retails for $199. If there was nothing else to say, this would be a solid value – $199 is a good price for a rangefinder with this set of features. However, Shot Scope overdelivers on value with two added considerations. First, they offer a 30 day money back guarantee. If you’re not happy with the PRO X, just send it back. Second, they cover this rangefinder with a two year warranty that offers a replacement if anything goes wrong. Those two things elevate the Shot Scope PRO X to an above average value.

Whether you need an unforgettable outing gift or are simply looking for a dependable laser, the Shot Scope PRO X rangefinder delivers. The straightforward functionality allows you to focus on the game, not your tech, while still providing accurate yardages.
